Attention! Public Contact Made
Polk County RPPD is informing you of a public contact that happened Wednesday, May 4th. Around 11:00 am, a customer notified Polk County RPPD that he made contact with an overhead power line. The incident happened when one of the spray booms “arms” was lowered onto a live phase. The customer reported hearing a loud bang an upon exiting his tractor noticed that his new tire was blown out. Not realizing at this point he had contacted a power line, he stuck his finger into the tire hole to investigate and was shocked at that time. Electricity is always looking for a path to the ground and that tire became its path. The victim reportedly is okay, but the outcome could have proven fatal. Everyone, please use extreme caution when working around power lines. Always take a second look.
